ANNA MACINNES ART
I work mainly in oils and sometimes acrylics on a variety of surfaces, preferring board when en plein air.
The changing seasons and weather conditions enthral and inspire me, trying to capture the feeling of the changing light and weather.

For an original present, commission a drawing or painting of a house. This can be in pen or pen and ink and watercolour. It can be framed as a one off gift or used to create bespoke stationery, letterheads, postcards or folded cards. sometimes it is fun to add a few people in..even whole extended families!
I love sketching constantly, whether its the everyday moments or something special that has to be captured. Drawing at events is so exciting...parties, weddings, fairs, festivals, anything...trying to get it all down along with odd comments along the way. I draw quickly in pen and add an accent of colour later but don't rework, wanting to keep the spontaneity and energy of the moment.
I love to sketch continuously, and draw nonstop in any situation getting down on paper everyday happenings as well as the exceptional days too. Some of my favourite work is capturing special events, such as weddings and birthday bashes. I draw the scenes and settings with the guests and backdrop, noting down snatches of conversations and comments as I hear them. I mostly work on A4 paper but can work up a bigger sketch on A3or A2 over time. Sketches can be printed into cards, or framed up to tell a story.
A special event can be captured in a series of sketches, black and white or in colour and make a unique record of a special day.
In my constant sketching I often draw flowers, insects and snippets from nature. I have made some of these into a range of cards. These are pen and ink drawings with watercolour. Each set has 5 cards and 5 postcards with 10 envelopes, apart from the Christmas set which is 6 cards printed on silver card.
The sets are growing with the years, adventures and seasons
Original British, Hebrides, Ile de RĂ©, Ionian, Flower Farm, Alps, Isle of Wight, British Hedgerow, Seaweed, Tulips, and various Christmas sets.
These are available to order.
My calligraphy lends itself to invitations and poems. Illustrations in pen and ink can be added in full or partially.
Lots of my drawings work really well on a tray, especially the house portraits with local flora around the edge as a border. The drawings can also be printed onto tea towels.
Individual commissions such as writing out and illustrating personal poems (in some cases written by clients) using photos, makes a very unique and personal present. I also write and illustrate menus, seating plans and place names, finding personal motifs and decoration.
